Showrooms and House of the Immediate Future

The opportunity to visit Knoll was more than expected. Their commercial design is more than appealing to what I would like to see in a business environment. As well as their furniture creations that are truly impeccable and probably the most comfortable chairs to be working in. I could have sat in those chairs all day. Knoll's textile portion of the company was also impressive, the designs and textures constructed were engaging and even desirable for a workspace. I learned from this that the designs they have are for the most comfortability and balance within a space a person can have and feel while working. These sketches are of a few chairs that I found interesting, the George Nakashima table, the Cini Boeri loveseat, and the Jehs & Laub chair which had included a foot rest of the same square blocked pattern.
Visiting the Habitat for Humanity location by the EMP theatre in Seattle, WA was a new experience. The volunteer's abilities to provide exactly what a family will need within their home living space, but at an affordable cost for that family. Not necessarily big luxurious homes, but ones with appealing looks for a smaller setting, and a way of sustaining natural resources such as rain run off and the use of thicker windows to contain heat while making them able to open on each side for a cross draft on hot days. The image on the left is of this habitat for humanity home, two stories for a family with two kids, and an extra room for guests or even an office. It was a very quick sketch that I wish was in a better perspective so it could be seen for its structure more because it was really an incredible home of the future. The image on the right is just of the space needle from practically right below it, was located in the vicinity and I thought would be a cool again very quick sketch, since I do not usually get the chance to be around the Seattle Space Needle.
